I spoke at length yesterday about my own stupidity in not keeping some record of all the material I download, particularly the freebies and also PLR material. I have long been of the view that you get what you pay for in life and no one is going to give you something for nothing. There will always be a quid pro quo – even if it’s only a smile and a thank you!
One of the things we all use to a greater or lesser extent is PLR material and there is some good stuff around and some absolute dross. The problem with most of the free stuff is that whilst it can be good, if you got it free, so did everyone else and consequently it will be on every lazy site around ‘as it comes’ and not rewritten – and sadly, there are a lot of those around. So if you want to use quality PLR material you generally have to pay for it. The next question is where do you go and this is where I have a bit of a gripe, particularly on behalf of many of the newbies to Online Marketing.
When you first start working on the internet money is often tight so you have to look for something that is affordable, but gives value (this is a hobby horse of mine!) and many of the PLR sites require a subscription of quite astronomical proportions when you are just beginning. In many cases there is no access to a library or choice of material – you just have to take what is on offer that week/month . Now that is OK when you are a bit more experienced and can turn your hand to rewriting on almost any subject but it’s not helpful if you can’t – for whatever reason. The choice is taken away from you and you can flounder around making expensive mistakes and you often have no idea how many subscribers there are getting that material . I’ve also found that many people are unwilling to share where they get their PLR material from for just that reason.
This state of affairs irritated me so I went on a search and without too much difficulty I came up with a trio of goodies that give you that choice without costing an arm and a leg. The first is PLR MiniMart where you can buy a ‘five pack’ of articles for just $5 on a wide range of topics – you just choose the ones you want. Each pack tells you how many times is has been sold so you know just how many folks out there are using that material. These short articles are great for a test marketing platform where you just want to see how the market responds, the downside is that as far as I can see there is no upper limit on the number of times each pack will be sold – but you are aware of that upfront.
A second very good source of quality articles is Philoscribe a specialist writing site where you can have almost all your writing needs fulfilled. Some of the services offered are really for the advanced Online Marketer, such as Ghost Writing and Ebook production but they do have a range of quality PLR packages which are updated regularly and only available in small numbers at very reasonable rates, as little as $10 in some cases. You can also pick up a 20 page ebook with graphics for $7. The standard of writing is excellent – you can rely on the accuracy of the research and you don’t have to pay a punitive subscription.
The third source I found impressed me enormously, not only because of the choice element again, and no subscription but the quality of the package. Niche Content Packages have packs on a growing range of subjects that are incredibly good value for money in my opinion. The downside is that you have to purchase credits up front and the packs are a little more expensive but I was amazed at what I got for my money. I purchased a package which promised me 11 quality and quite lengthy articles and 3 headers and 3 covers for around $30 – what did I get? Well I got the articles which were well written and researched – I consider myself something of an expert on this particular topic! There were the graphics promised so I was well pleased.
Then came the extra value, each of the three Headers came with psd as well as jpg files – nothing too special there, but each of the covers is supplied with a version containing text, and a blank one, again in both jpg and psd formats together with instructions on how to edit them and the photoshop actions scripts to make it easy – full instructions supplied for that too. On top of that came three fonts and the instructions on how to install them. More expensive on the face of it – but what good value for money – you had enough content for an entire mini site. Most important for a newbie was the clear instructions – a godsend that I would have given my right arm for a few years ago. The other little touch that I liked was that each of the packs stated clearly how many more would be sold and the start number is not high. I have to congratulate Stefan Everaet on an excellent product, particularly for newbies, and I would recommend it to anyone. I shall certainly be buying more.
Just as an aside- when you buy some material – don’t forget to make a record of where you put it on your hard drive!

You’re right it’s hard to find good quality PLR! Thanks for the recommendation and tips. BTW,I’m not sharing where I get my PLR from, not yet anyways!
