Announcing the birth of a new edition

The last two days have been frustrating. I decided it was time to revamp my ‘Silver Lining‘ Report which is all about making the most of Tags on Squidoo – though many of the techniques can be applied to other sites as well. Suffice it to say all did not quite go as planned!

Why is is that we never allow enough time to do things or do we just set ourself impossible schedules believing our capacity and speed of work is greater that it is (Guilty!). I am the world champion of overscheduling myself, I set ‘To Do’ lists for myself that I wouldn’t dream of expecting anyone else to complete… I’d say they were mad.

Rewriting the book was the fun part – I can talk for England and wax lyrical in print as well without any difficulty!  Even the graphics – never a strong point with me – proved easy with the assistance of SnagIt.   Also, the subject is dear to my heart – helping people make the best of their Squidoo lenses, so that part was done and dusted over the weekend.  Bring on the ‘To Do’ list!

I needed to revamp the website as I had decided to change the script – why? Not sure, just seemed like a good idea at the time so that was major task number one. Then I decided to change my delivery system, the old one was getting tired and confused – a bit like me! That was major task number two. Next check over the mailing list for the free life time updates – hmm, for some reason there were two, or is it three so that needs to be sorted – major task number three. Then, just to cap it all, in a fit of pique I decided to change my domain registrar for the Silver Lining domain to my new registrar of choice. Now two days should be enough for all of that, shouldn’t it?

The Silver Lining Squidoo ReportWell, add in the fact that I had clients to deal with (only six!), the occasional need to eat – oh, and there was the major Christmas wingding to attend with my other half which necessitated being in full evening dress by half past five yesterday evening and what was the other thing I forgot – I know … sleep. Two days ………ha! Giving birth to my daughter was less of trial than giving birth to a new edition! This ought to be a salutary lesson to me but I know I will keep on doing the same thing – it’s my nature. I am taking myself ‘in hand’ and getting organised – and realistic, but more of that another day.

The upshot is that I am pleased to announce the birth of a new edition of the Silver Lining, a bouncing and bonny babe it is too! The mailing regarding the update will go out to previous owners in the next day or so when I have untangled the mailing list. I know there are still things I have to do so I’ll trundle off and do those – and I’ll tell you a bit more about it another day!

I’m glad to report we did actually enjoy the evening out, and i am sure the the break from the screen did some good – even if it was only for a few hours.

As well as this was written and as empatically as it was conveyed, I’m not sure there will ever be anything adequate enough to explain what goes on behind the scenes when a work-from-home person chooses not to outsource.

After all, one person can only water so many plants. ;-)

I think you’ll find a way, though.

Best,
Sam
